A guild of Bards and other loremasters. In Erril, Bards come in two forms: journeymen Bards, and adventuring Bards.
- Adventuring Bards are those who take a thrill in combat. They fight, and often join an adventuring group to write tales about. To become a loremaster, and thus have the option of becoming a Journeyman, they must submit an epic poem about their group or an individual within it.
- Journeyman Bards are different in that they take an oath of pacifism. It is forbidden for them to attack, and wards exist on them to ensure they do not, except in the direst of circumstances such as to save their own life or to save the life of a very close friend. It is forbidden, and the most heinous of crimes, to attack a Journeyman Bard. Journeyman Bards are identified by their holy symbols: a mixture of Avandra and Ioun. Any found to be wearing one of these symbols who is not a journeyman is instantly put to death.
Because they have such excellent stories to tell, all loremasters can get a free meal in whichever inn they choose to stay at, usually in exchange for an evening’s entertainment.
