Once a mighty hero who fought besides the legendary Tavaner, when both Tavaner and Talastar retired from the army and took their places as Low Ones of the twin cities Mindithir and Mindithanith, they thought life would end peacefully.
What followed was a surprise attack on Mindithanith by followers of Orcus. Though the city fell, Talastar is said to have formed the brilliant strategy of luring all of the enemy generals into the throne room, and holding them there tooth and nail.
Mindithanith never truly recovered, and the Ruby of Mindith no longer held solace for its citizens. Instead of being inspired and empassioned by it as they once were, it corrupted their very souls. Most left the city. Those who remained starved to death, and reanimated as undead zombies. It was not known what happened to Talastar until some time later.
An adventuring party, now called the Mindithanith’Ka, happened across the city. Their name is roughly translated as “Destroyers (trans. or perhaps Liberators) of Mindithanith”. They discovered Talastar within the throne room, but where once a noble wight had ruled, now an evil wight festered, kept alive only by the will of the now-corrupted Ruby of Mindith.
The party slew Talastar, and released his soul to ascend to the astral sea. He left behind a part of his essence in his sword, Elezzar.
